At Uptown Tap & Cigar, community has always come first. Great beer, good stories, and marsh views may bring people through the doors, but connection is what keeps them there. That same community-centered spirit is why Uptown is proud to serve as a Champion for Children in support of Safe Harbor.
Scott is a St. Simons native, born and raised. A Glynn Academy and UGA graduate, married to Madelynne, and a proud dad of four (plus three dogs). Greg was raised in Tampa, spent much of his life in Atlanta, and moved to St. Simons in 2013. He’s married to Nikki, has two kids, and one dog — because sometimes sanity should prevail.
Scott and Greg met through F3 (Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith), where early morning workouts turned into friendships built on shared interests: skiing and snowboarding trips, craft beer, and a deep appreciation for community. When they learned in 2023 that their favorite island tap house was closing, they did what any reasonable pair would do — they opened a new one. Leaning on their vast experience in retail and hospitality (Scott worked at Gnats in high school; Greg washed dishes in his fraternity house), Uptown Tap & Cigar opened its doors in November 2024.
Safe Harbor holds a special place in the Uptown story. Scott’s wife, Madelynne, has a long-standing connection to the organization and continues to volunteer there today. Through her involvement, the mission to protect vulnerable children became personal.
As a community gathering place, Uptown is honored to rally its customers, friends, and neighbors to support Safe Harbor — because protecting children isn’t just important work. It’s community work.
