How It Works

This is a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit; not a deduction.

Both individuals and businesses are eligible.

You keep your tax dollars local and directly impact children and families across Coastal Georgia.

NEED HELP?
Is this a tax credit or a tax deduction?
This is a dollar-for-dollar state income tax credit. That means your tax bill is reduced by the full amount of your contribution.
Do I need pre-approval?
Yes. You must first apply online through the Georgia Tax Center to get state
approval before making your donation.
How long do I have to donate after approval?
You have 60 days from the date of approval to make your
contribution to Safe Harbor.
How do I claim the credit on my taxes?
When you file your Georgia income tax return, you (or your CPA) will include the credit on your state return using the proper state form. Safe Harbor will also provide you with confirmation of your contribution. Thank you for keeping your tax
dollars local and changing lives through Safe Harbor.
What if the statewide $20 million cap is reached?
If the cap is reached, no more credits are available that year.
That’s why applying early (in January) is recommended.
